Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This weekend, as we celebrate the Feast of Holy Pentecost, we are reminded of the role of the Holy Spirit not only in the life of each and every one of us, but also in the life and mystery of the Church. The Church, although led by imperfect humans, is led to perfection by the prompting and action of the Holy Spirit. It is the same for us as individual Orthodox Christians, yet we often tend to downplay the role of the Spirit in our own life. We will talk about that this weekend.
The coming week: On Saturday morning, at 9:30 a.m., we will have the last Liturgy for the Reposed, or Soul Saturday Liturgy, of the year. That afternoon at 6 pm we will serve Great Vespers for the Feast of Pentecost. Divine Liturgy for the Feast will be Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
On Wednesday evening we will have small compline at 6:00 pm, followed by Inquirers Class at 6:30 pm.
Next Friday, we will begin the Missions workshop, led by Subdeacon Maximus. It will begin Friday evening, and then through the day on Saturday. I hope that everyone will try to attend at least part of this program.
Keep in mind that all of next week is fast-free. Enjoy!
I hope to see you all this weekend!
